This is the time of year to take a few minutes to reflect on 2020 and think about the year ahead. Are you making new year resolutions – which are often set up to fail or are you creating sound business goals that will help you develop your business throughout 2021 and beyond?
Take 3 small steps to success!
1. Identify what you want to achieve
2. Turn it into a SMARTIE goal
3. Start working on your goals
S – Specific
Add percentages to required change and add timescales.
M – Measurable
Make sure you know when you have achieved your goal.
A – Achievable
Only you know if your goal is achievable.
R – Realistic
Is it realistic within the constraints of your business sector, the current market and past achievements of your business.
T – Timed
Use timescale – perhaps a start time or a completion date.
I – Inspire
They should inspire you to research new ideas or try something different.
E – Energising
They should make you ‘go the extra mile’ collaborate and empower others.
‘I want to increase profit’ rewritten as a SMARTIE goal becomes :
‘By 30th June 2021 I will increase my profit by 10% against last years figures’.
‘I want to loose weight’ rewritten as a SMARTIE goal might become :
By 29th September I will have lost 2 stone & will comfortably fit into my wedding dress.
What goals have you set for 2021? Have you got the confidence to turn them into effective SMARTIE goals? Let me know if you would like some help identifying your goals and then turning them into a SMARTIE format.
A SMARTIE goal is a successful goal!
